External pma-voice Server Setup
Overview
Setting up pma-voice on a separate server improves voice quality, reduces lag, and maintains voice chat stability during DDoS attacks. This configuration is recommended for servers hosting 50+ players or experiencing voice-related issues during attacks.
Prerequisites
This setup is beneficial for:
- Servers with 50+ concurrent players
- Servers experiencing DDoS attacks that affect voice quality
- Environments requiring improved voice chat stability
Setup Process
1. Acquire Secondary Server
Obtain a dedicated server separate from your main game server.
Server Options:
- Budget VPS solutions
- Any compatible Linux/Windows server
- Ensure adequate bandwidth for voice traffic
2. Install Framework
Install a clean copy of your framework (QBCore, ESX, or standalone) on the secondary server.
Requirements:
- Fresh framework installation
- pma-voice resource properly configured
- Custom port assignment (not 30120)
Configuration:
endpoint_add_tcp "0.0.0.0:YOUR_CUSTOM_PORT"
endpoint_add_udp "0.0.0.0:YOUR_CUSTOM_PORT"
3. Configure Server Privacy
Add the following line to your secondary server's server.cfg to prevent public listing:
sv_master1 ""
Additional Security:
- Set txAdmin to admin-only access
- Prevent accidental player connections
- Keep server unlisted from public directories
4. Configure Main Server
Edit your main server's server.cfg with the following voice configuration:
setr voice_allowSetIntent 1
setr voice_externalAddress YOUR_SECONDARY_SERVER_IP
setr voice_externalPort 30500
setr voice_hideEndpoints 1
Configuration Parameters:
| Parameter | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
voice_externalAddress |
IP address of secondary server | 192.168.1.100 |
voice_externalPort |
Voice server port | 30500 |
voice_allowSetIntent |
Enable external voice server | 1 |
