Swapping an IP Address

This guide covers the process of changing the IP address configuration on Windows servers through the network adapter settings. The procedure involves updating IPv4 settings and requires temporary disconnection from RDP.

Steps to Change IP Address

1. Access RDP Connection

Log into your server using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) with your existing credentials.

2. Navigate to Network Configuration

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Select View Network Status and Tasks
  3. Click on your active network adapter (WiFi, Ethernet 2, etc.)
  4. Click Properties
  5. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
  6. Click Properties

3. Configure IP and DNS Settings

  1. Select Use the following IP address
  2. Select Use the following DNS server addresses
  3. Enter the network configuration values:
Setting Value
IP address Your assigned IPv4 address (e.g., 192.0.2.100)
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway Your gateway IP (e.g., 192.0.2.1)
Preferred DNS server 1.1.1.1
Alternate DNS server 1.0.0.1
  1. Click OK to apply changes

Note: Your RDP connection will disconnect after clicking OK.

4. Reconnect with New IP

  1. Connect to RDP using the new IP address
  2. Use the same username and password as before
  3. Reconfigure any required port access (30120, 40120, etc.)

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

If RDP becomes unresponsive or the server is inaccessible after configuration:

  1. Access the dedicated server dashboard through your client portal
  2. Click Manage on your server, then Control Panel
  3. Select your server and click Console under Power Options
  4. Log in through the console using your RDP credentials
  5. Repeat the IP configuration process to verify settings

If issues persist, contact support through the ticketing system for assistance.
