FiveM Car Pack Installation

Car packs optimize server performance by loading multiple vehicles under a single resource folder instead of processing hundreds of individual folders. This method reduces resource overhead and improves streaming efficiency.

Important Limitations:

  • Encrypted vehicles cannot be car packed
  • Encrypted vehicles are identified by the presence of .fxap files

Data Folder Organization

  1. Navigate to the car pack's data folder
  2. Create a new folder named after the vehicle's spawn code
  3. Place all .meta files inside this spawn code folder
File Types Location Purpose
.meta files data/[spawncode]/ Vehicle metadata and configuration
.yft, .ytd files stream/[spawncode]/ 3D models and textures

Example Structure:

carpack/
├── data/
│ └── hycsunrise/
│ ├── vehicles.meta
│ ├── carcols.meta
│ └── handling.meta
└── stream/
    └── hycsunrise/
        ├── vehicle.yft
        └── textures.ytd

Stream Folder Configuration

  1. Navigate to the car pack's stream folder
  2. Create a new folder using the same spawn code as the data folder
  3. Place all .yft, .ytd, and other streaming files inside this folder

This organization structure facilitates future livery editing and maintenance.

Fxmanifest Configuration

Configure the fxmanifest.lua to specify which .meta files to load:

data_file 'HANDLING_FILE' 'data/*/handling.meta'
data_file 'VEHICLE_METADATA_FILE' 'data/*/vehicles.meta'
data_file 'CARCOLS_FILE' 'data/*/carcols.meta'

Adding Multiple Vehicles

To add additional vehicles to the car pack:

  1. Create matching folders in both data and stream directories
  2. Use the vehicle's spawn code as the folder name
  3. Place .meta files in the data folder
  4. Place .yft and .ytd files in the stream folder
  5. Ensure folder names match the spawn code exactly

QBCore Integration

Vehicle Registration

Add vehicles to the QBCore shared configuration:

  1. Open qb-core/shared/vehicles.lua
  2. Add vehicle entries with matching spawn names

Spawn Name Requirements

Component Requirement
Folder names Must match spawn code
vehicles.meta Must contain matching model name
QBCore config Must use identical spawn name

Critical: Spawn names must be identical across all configurations. Mismatched names prevent garage storage and admin commands from functioning.
